Obstetrics

Obstetrics covers pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum (the first six weeks after childbirth).

Obstetrics covers pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum (the first six weeks after childbirth). Comprehensive services offered by Dr Gomez range from preconception counselling and regular antenatal care checkups to ensure the health of yourself and your baby during pregnancy, to advice and support regarding birthing options, and the provision of personalised postnatal care. Please see below for more details.

Caesarean section

A caesarean section is where a baby is delivered via surgical incision in the abdomen and uterus as opposed to vaginal birth. This may be necessary due to pregnancy complications, abnormal labour progress or abnormalities with your baby’s heart rate in labour.

There are other less common reasons for a caesarean section and Dr Gomez can advise you in relation to these, as well as answering any questions you may have in relation to caesarean sections and future pregnancy risks.

Protecting our patients against COVID-19

To protect our patients against the spread of COVID-19 we have implemented enhanced treatment and hygiene protocols as per Australian Medical Association guidelines. These protocols and policies are regularly reviewed and updated in light of changing advice. The safety of our patients and staff is always our first priority.
